Peter Derviller - Commodore
Peter sailed with the original Jib Set Sailing School and after a landlocked period in Calgary, returned to find the re-launch of the JIB SET SAILING CLUB a place to focus his creative energy. As Commodore, Peter's role is to provide leadership and direction to the executive and members.
Kit Griffin - Vice Commodore
As a Canadian Power & Sail Squadron instructor and boat owner, Kit’s experience is a great asset in support of the commodore and to the members.
Ana Ristic - Membership Networking Coordinator
Ana accepted this new position for 2010/2011 that reflects the importance to ‘community spirit’ of communication between members to arrange sailing trips and coordinate their club activities.
Andy Harris - Education, Safety Officer and Mentoring Coordinator
Education, safety and mentoring are key features of the club. As a CYA instructor and long-time member of the sailing community, Andy is well qualified for this position.
Bob Davis - Past Vice Commodore
A CYA instructor and keen sailor, Bob was instrumental in the re-launch of the club.
Fraser Martyniuk - Maintenance Coordinator
Fraser trained with the Cooper Boating Club fleet and joined JIB SET in June, 2008. Fraser is responsible, with Ron Gibson for ensuring the club’s boats are properly maintained.
James Griffiths - Cruising Coordinator
The JIB SET mission includes introducing new sailors to the wonderful world of cruising. James has accepted this responsibility with enthusiasm and, as a result, cruising has been added to JIB SET’s expanding repertoire of member benefits.
John Gowan - Regatta & Racing Officer
For a long time a successful Friday Night Racing skipper, John’s role is to organize club regattas and administer club racing.
John Slater - Communications Officer John brings his business background and experience as a boat owner and CYA instructor to this important role that centers on web and media communication and promotion.
Lance Kujala - Committee Boat - FNR
For several years Lance has been responsible for keeping the competitive enthusiasm of the racers in check, setting the course and recording the results. The excellent safety record speaks for itself.
Neil Ripley - Membership Coordinator
Neil is responsible for promoting the club, welcoming growing numbers of new members and communicating with the membership. He manages the club’s bulletin board on Meetup at Meetup.com/JIB-SET-Sailing-Club.
Renith Appleby - Social Coordinator
Under Renith’s management, the Friday Night Racing barbecue, open houses and other social events have played an important part in introducing the club to potential new members, ‘breaking the ice’ for new members and building club spirit.
Ron Gibson - Maintenance Coordinator
Ron’s background as a sailor, scuba diver and craftsman perfectly suit him for this role, jointly with Fraser, overseeing quality assurance of the club fleet of M244s.
Susan Stuart - Treasurer
Susan brings her extensive business background to this role and also administers the successful Friday Night Racing activities.
Tom Tinsley - Sunday Sailing Coordinator
Tom has been instrumental in promoting the steady growth of all-year-round sailing at the JIB SET.
