Light house sunsetThe leaves are slowly starting their transition from green to brown as we enjoy the last lazy days of summer. If Mother Nature approves our summer may stretch long into September, which for all the fair-weather sailors out there, is definitely a blessing. September in Vancouver is known as the best sailing season of the year with regular evening winds, mild temperatures, and fantastic scenic beauty making it the ideal time to get out on the water!
"Welcome Back" weekend at West Marine

This weekend (Sept 13th and 14th) is the West Marine "Welcome back Jib Set" weekend. We will be advertising the club and handing out flyers to let people know Jib Set is back once again. Come by take a peek as well as recommend anybody interested in hitting the water, to drop on by!

 A special thanks to everybody who came out to the "End of summer" BBQ. It was a great success as well as an opportunity to meet other members. There will be more social events taking place during the winter season, so stay tuned!
Mast stepping crew Calling all Volunteers!

On September 6th we had six volunteers come down to the docks and help us step our new Martin 242 mast. It was a great success, with everybody learning something new along the way! We have just received the new Capri mast from California and will be having another Jib Set maintenance clinic; it's a great way to work off those Jib Set volunteer hours and learn something new in the process! If you're interested stop by the Jib Set office, or send us an email and we will be happy to provide you with the details.  There will also be more chances and opportunities for everybody to get in on the action as we will be holding clinics regarding outboard maintenance, winch rebuilding, sail trim, spinnaker clinics and many more. Interested in learning about boat maintenance? Send us a line and we will add you to the mailing list.

Not interested in maintenance? Interested in sailing with other sailors? We are also currently seeking enthusiastic volunteer skippers. Part of the Jib Set philosophy is we are "Everybody's Sailing Club".  Experienced and inexperienced sailors alike are welcome, and we are looking for volunteers willing to mentor some of our less experienced sailors. Interested? Please contact us with your general availability, and we will arrange the rest!

Sunday Sailing Series

We are currently looking for volunteers to help Jib Set host our Sunday racing series. If you are interested in helping assist organizing the races and learning to run the committee boat, sign up for our volunteer list. Interested in racing/sailing on Sundays?  Let us know you're interested! We're currently debating between a racing series and cruising series (with possible day trips to Bowen Island etc ) We'd like to know what piques your interest as the idea is still under development! Please phone or email us a.s.a.p. with your preferences!
Spinnaker Clinic Sept 28th

Due to popular demand, on Sunday Sept 28th, Jib Set is hosting a Spinnaker Clinic! Come on down and learn about the theory, systems, and procedures of running a spinnaker aboard our Catalina Capri 22s. Includes all day instruction as well as boat time. Cost is $149 to cover instructor & insurance. Register at the Jib Set office. Sign up today, as space is limited! (Sign up a friend as a Jib Set member and participate in the clinic for just $49!)

Intermediate and Coastal Navigation level sailors may sign up for CYA instructor try outs at Cooper Boating on November 15th to16th and 22nd to 23rd.
